Who Am I?

My name is Rogier Giersthove 

I was born and raised in a small town named the Hague in the Netherlands.

I studied Architecture and Building Sciences at the Technical University in Delft.

Even though I liked my study in my third year I became fascinated by the idea of working from my laptop and being able to earn money from anywhere in the world.

After catching the entrepreneurship bug I tried to create multiple businesses but almost all of them failed either because of a lack of:

• Training
• Knowledge
• Resources

After a few failed attempts I ended up at an affiliate marketing training platform and followed their training. 

I combined their training with multiple affiliate courses and the knowledge I gained from consultations with veteran affiliate marketers to create my first affiliate website.

It started as a small blog but quickly turned into an income-generating resource that could make +$100 in a day.

This course is a combination of what I learned from information sources such as Wealthy Affiliate, SEO veteran Matt Diggity, and others.

So now that you know a little bit about me.

Now let's start with the basics.

What exactly is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a form of marketing where companies form partnerships with people to get more exposure and boost their sales.

The people they form these partnerships with are called affiliates and they earn a commission for each visit, signup, or sale they generate for those companies.

I’m going to teach you how to become an affiliate. Before I get into it I think it’s important to mention affiliate marketing is not network marketing aka MLM.

There’s no pyramid structure and you don’t have to bother people to recruit them. 

Affiliate marketers simply recommend products to people that are already in need of them. You don’t have to be face-to-face with them and it doesn’t include selling.

It’s one of the biggest reasons Amazon grew so large in a relatively short time. Millions of affiliates were referring people to Amazon to earn money. 

Joining a referral program and referring 1 or 2 people to a company every once in a while for $10 is not that hard.

This is not what I’m going to teach in this course our goal will be to turn this into an income source that generates meaningful money consistently every month. 

This means we have to become strategic with our approach to affiliate marketing.

We’re going to follow a process consisting of multiple steps that thousands of affiliate marketers use to earn money online.

How do the companies know you recomended their products to people?

Once you sign-up for an affiliate program, they’ll provide you with a unique link that directs you to their company website. 

Here’s an example:

Ever heard of Wealthy Affiliate it’s an online marketing training platform that has its own affiliate program.

The normal URL of the website is https://wealthyaffiliate.com 

An affiliate link would look like this:https://www.wealthyaffiliate.com?a_aid=0fe8f3cc

The end part [?a_aid=0fe8f3cc] will be different for every affiliate.

This is how they see from which affiliate’s website people are coming to them.

In return, they pay the affiliate if someone gets a premium subscription.

Why get into affiliate marketing?

Low financial risk

An important part of creating a business is coming up with a product.

This is easier said than done. 

There are so many businesses that spent years just developing their products and having to pivot from that direction because of the reaction of their test audience. 

This process takes a lot of time and money.

With Affiliate marketing, you skip this entire process. 

You just pick a company with affiliate products (that have been proven to be successful) that you would be interested in promoting, receive the affiliate links, and start making money.

Easily Scalable

Once your foundation is set it’s a lot easier to increase your earning than with most businesses.

If you scale a barbershop or a restaurant you’d need to pay for more space, more equipment, and personnel, and on top of that put more money into your marketing.

That isn’t the case with affiliate marketing. You don’t need extra space, you don’t need to hire people or equipment. You just invest more into your marketing and your earnings increase.

It’s one of the most affordable methods for earning real capital.

It’s the closest thing to passive income. 

The “press on the button” and earn money type of passive income is a fairytale that a lot of sleazy salesmen use to sell their products.

It’s not real but there are indeed methods that come close to earning a passive income. 

Affiliate marketing is one of those methods.

Search engines such as Google show their results 24/7 all around the world for people to click on. 

So what happens if your website is part of those results? It gets viewed 24/7 by a lot of people all around the world.

Now let’s say they land on a webpage of yours because it contains information about a product they’re looking for. 

That webpage can contain affiliate links to an affiliate company like Amazon that produces that product.

There is a chance they might buy something on Amazon and you earn a commission. 

Now imagine 24/7 people coming to your web pages through Google without you doing anything.

What does that sound like?

That being said it does takes some work to get your web pages shown on Google but once they’re up they rarely go down. 

Affiliate marketing makes you do the work upfront and lets you enjoy the benefits afterward.

The 4 Steps of making money online

There are many ways to earn money online but the overarching method always consists of 4 steps no matter what method you’re using. 

1. Choosing a niche 

2. Creating your affiliate headquarters (Website)

3. Marketing your website 

4. Earning Money 

1. Choosing a niche 

A niche is a subgroup of the population that’s interested in a specific product or activity.

By focusing on 1 specific niche you’ll have an easier time building credibility to the point they listen to you when you recommend an affiliate product. 

There are millions of niches to choose from but the trick is to find a profitable niche where you can grow relatively quickly. 

In this course, I’m going to show you how to choose a profitable niche.

2. Creating your affiliate headquarters (Website)

Your website is going to be the headquarters of your business. Unlike YouTube channels and social media platforms, you have full authority over your website. 

You’re going to send people from search engines and social media to your website
on which you’ll have your affiliate links. 

If you don’t have any experience building a website, don’t worry. 

Nowadays they’ve all kinds of programs that do 90% of the work for you.

I’ll show you in one of the later lessons where you can find these programs to do all the hard work for you. 

3. Marketing your website

After you’ve built your headquarters it’ll be time to get “eyes” on your affiliate offers.

In this course, we’ll be focusing on getting organic traffic. 

The traffic that we'll focus on is obtained without using advertising or money.

You can combine what you learned here with advertising but for now, we’ll stick to the cheaper route.  

If there's enough ammo I'll add a paid advertising module but we'll get into that later.

For now, we’re going to create a consistent traffic source that brings in a large number of visitors every day semi-passively.

4. Earning Money

We are going to direct the traffic to strategically placed affiliate links inserted in the pages on your website.

The moment they buy something on the affiliate company its website we can start to earn money.

What’s cool about following these steps is that after you succeed in going through all these steps you can combine them with a lot more methods to earn money from the same website.

In lesson 10, I’ll show you exactly how to do that to increase your earnings even more and start earning money earlier. 

How long does it take to succeed with affiliate marketing?

This is the wrong question to ask. 

Here’s why. 

We’re going to build the entire website and everything needing it to function in the next 10 days but if people don’t visit it you won’t earn money. 

This means the right question to ask is how long does it take to attract enough people consistently?

This all depends on how much effort, time, and money you put into your business. 

To succeed you’ll have to either sacrifice time or money. 

People sacrificing money are paying for advertising through Google Ads, Instagram Ads, Facebook Ads, etc will immediately get visitors.

People sacrificing time are leveraging content marketing to attract visitors which often takes longer (I’ll show you a way to speed up the process though).

I’ve seen people succeed in a matter of months and others take years simply because they didn’t put in the necessary amount of work. 

It’s entirely up to you how long it takes.

My advice would be to put as much time into it as possible at the start until you get the ball rolling.
