In this post, I’m going to share with you everything you need to know about the feature that makes Beehiiv stand out from most email newsletter tools.
The Beehiiv Adnetwork.
I’ll mention how it works, how to use it to earn money, the pros, and cons, and more. Let’s get into it!
What is the Beehiiv Ad Network?
The Beehiiv Network is a network of newsletters created by Beehiiv that advertisers can use to promote their products.
In exchange for newsletters promoting the ads of advertisers, they’ll be compensated based on the performance of the ads.
You could say it’s Beehiiv’s version of the Google Adnetwork.
Who benefits from the Beehiiv Ad Network?
2 types of groups can take advantage of the Beehiiv network. Publishers and Advertisers but to get more precise it’s these sub-groups who’ll benefit the most from the Ad Network:
- Publishers that have no experience with monetizing their content
- Publishers that consistently have open ad slots in their newsletters
- Publishers that want to make money while figuring out how to monetize/ create their products and services.
- Advertisers looking for a specific niche
- Advertisers who are looking for promotion opportunities without a lot of competition.
- Advertisers that don’t have a big budget.
How to Join the Beehiiv Ad Network?
Not everyone can join the Beehiiv Ad Network. There are a few requirements that you’ll have to fulfill. First of all, you need to have a SCALE subscription to join the Beehiiv Ad Network.
You also need to be active when it comes to sending newsletters. After that, you can simply go to Ad Network under the monetization in the menu of your dashboard to start finding opportunities.
How much money can you earn with the Beehiiv Ad Network?
How much money you can earn is dependent on a few factors. Some are in your control while others unfortunately aren’t.
Here are some of the factors I have noticed you have to take into account:
- The amount of traffic coming to your newsletter.
- The congruence of the ads you select.
- How many opportunities are available?
- The number of advertisers that target your niche.
In terms of earning potential, it’s all based on CPC (cost-per-click) which means you could make a full-time income but also not make anything at all.
No guarantee can be given that you’ll earn money.
Beehiiv Ad Network payouts
After getting the clicks it is time to get paid by the platform. The payment process is a bit different from how it’s done with the Beehiiv affiliate program.
Unlike the affiliate program where publishers get paid out exclusively through PayPal, earnings from the Ad Network get paid out through a platform called Merucy.
A “banking” platform made to cater to startups.
Through Mercury, all publishers get paid out roughly every 4 to 6 weeks.
Beehiiv Ad Network Pros
1. Can be used in combination with advertisers not affiliated with Beehiiv
The Beehiiv Ad Network doesn’t forbid you from using external services to earn money. While it’s not 100% ownership that you’ll receive with their newsletters it’s the closest thing to it.
2. Affiliate marketing is allowed while running ads
A lot of platforms frown on affiliate marketing. Luckily, Beehiiv is not that type of platform. This gives you more options to monetize your newsletter.
3. No minimal traffic requirements to join the ad network
No matter how your newsletter performs you can join the Beehiiv ad network. You might get lucky with a few clicks even early in your journey.
Beehiiv Ad Network Cons/ Limitations
Beehiiv Ad Network is a great initiative but it’s got a few limitations at the moment. I do expect most of these will be solved over time. So don’t be surprised if this part of my content will be updated often.
1. Ad Network isn’t as big as its competitors yet
The Ad Network hasn’t been around for a long time and as a result, isn’t as big as some other ad networks. That being said, it’s still impressive with more than 600 million impressions at the moment of writing this.
2. Might not contain your targeted niche
Not every niche has advertisers available so in some cases as a publisher using the network might not be as effective.
The same applies for advertisers. There are several thousand newsletters that could promote products but that doesn’t mean they’re a good fit for your product.
3. Limited payment methods
The payment methods available are a bit limited. I do think the choice to use these payment methods was correct. They’re available to everyone but I’d wish they’d add some more payment methods.
That’s all for today!
