In this post, I’ll share with you if Beehiiv SEO features are worth the money.
For those not familiar with my content, I have been performing SEO on multiple websites since 2018. I’ll evaluate the worth of these SEO features from the perspective of an SEO expert.

What is SEO?
In a lot of Beehiiv reviews they rave about the SEO features and how they make Beehiiv stand out from its competitors but what exactly is SEO?
SEO is an acronym that stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s the act of getting your content indexed in result pages of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
In any form of online entrepreneurship, SEO will be important for your online success because it can bring organic visitors to your content.
The important thing is to rank as high as possible in the results because these results get the most clicks as you can see in this graph by backlinko.
The 3 key factors in getting ranked on search engines
1. Quality & relevant content
Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing their goal is to provide their users with the most relevant and high-quality content. This means the content they’ll put on the forefront will be what they perceive is the most high-quality and relevant content.
Your goal of trying to rank as high as possible will be likelier to be achieved when you create content with the same mindset.
2. Authority
Quality content is more likely to come from authoritative sources with a high degree of credibility. This is why it’s likelier to rank higher if your website has more authority.
This authority is gained by showing expertise, and experience, and acquiring backlinks from other websites.
3. User experience
The user experience is valued by search engines. A bad search experience often correlates with people leaving your website quickly. Search engines will notice when this occurs a lot and will rank you lower.
This is why you should have good navigation on your website, decent loading speed, and as always quality content
What does Beehiiv offer to contribute to getting ranked?

A custom domain will convey to search engines and visitors that you’re serious about your website/ newsletter. - HTTPS
HTTPS is an extra security measure that adds to the safety of your website. - URL slug customization
You can add your keywords to your URL to make sure your content gets indexed in the proper search result page. - Meta description customization
Just like with URL slug customization it adds to correct indexing but it can also be used to create intrigue and stimulate visitors to click on your result. - Sitemap
By creating a map of all your content you make it easier for search engines to find all your content and put it in their search results. - Canonical tags
Prevents search engines from seeing pages on different versions of your website as duplicate content which can hurt your rankings. - Robots.txt
You can control what pages get indexed and which aren’t. - Website speed
Adds to the user experience of a website.
What SEO factor does Beehiiv lack?
The factor that Beehiiv lacks is overall domain Authority for all their newsletters.
The main website Beehiiv.com has a lot of authority but unfortunately, you can’t piggybank on the main website to get your newsletter ranked.
Some websites such as Medium, Linkedin, and Substack do have that ability which means they don’t have to build up the authority of articles on the website.
These types of websites come with pros and cons though. You rank articles easier but they aren’t truly yours since they are on the main website.
That isn’t the case with Beehiiv.
You’ll get full ownership but you’ll have to start from scratch and build the authority of your website to increase your chances of ranking high in search engines.
Is Beehiiv worth it solely for the SEO benefits?
Beehiiv gives you a lot of control when it comes to customizing your website in a way that you can target the proper search engine result pages.
I do think if you’re solely getting Beehiiv with the thought of it being easier to rank on Google or other search engines you’ll be disappointed.
