They go into an agreement where you get a small percentage of every sale that has taken place based on your recommendation.

Personally, I think it's affiliate marketing is a huge opportunity for those that want to make money online. While a lot of other methods have become more popular such as dropshipping and selling online courses affiliate marketing often gets overlooked even though it's everywhere.

Before we get into the success stories I thought I'd mention why a lot of people prefer affiliate marketing over methods as dropshipping and selling online courses.
You can start with $0
The financial risk of affiliate marketing is low because you're making money promoting other people's products.
You don't have to invest time and money in creating or reselling a product. This makes it easier for people that don't have any money but are interested in making money online.
You Can Work From Anywhere
Affiliate marketing is done from your computer which means you can do it from anywhere as long as you got a good internet connection. While a lot of affiliate marketers work from home or coffee places you also have a large group that relocates to other countries or just keep traveling while they're making money online.
Earn money by making content about your interests
Affiliate marketers attract potential customers by creating helpful content and suggesting products of the affiliate companies they partnered up within the content. Luckily in every branch, there are companies that accept affiliate partnerships.
This means you can make content about almost anything depending on companies your partner up with. You like surfing partner up with a company with a surfboard affiliate program, you like marketing partner up with a company selling marketing products, etc.
You Don't Trade Money For Hours
With affiliate marketing, you won't get paid based on the hours you work. instead, you get paid for every person buying a product based on your recommendation.
This is why a lot of people either try to build a large audience or rank on Google so that a consistent stream of website visitors keep coming.
You'll have to put in a lot of work in the beginning but once the business is set up (depending on the niche) money will keep coming in no matter how much you work on your business.
The future of Affiliate Marketing
When I started a lot of people told me not to get into affiliate marketing because its over saturated and will soon be a thing of the past with the emergence of other forms of eCommerce.
If you think about it logically there's no way affiliate marketing could get over saturated. As long as there are people willing to buy products and there are companies aiming to make more money by getting more exposure(which every company aims for) Affiliate programs will exist.
A study done by Rakuten Marketing showed that from 2016 till 2021 the affiliate marketing industry would grow to become a 6.8 Billion dollar industry.
Turns out they were right affiliate marketing especially with the help of blogging is still relevant and it's not showing any indication of slowing down.
It's safe to say affiliate marketing is here to stay.

Story #1: Jerry, 22 Year College Dropout Making +$6200/month online.

It all depends on you.
Most people have to go through a learning period before they’re able to create high-quality content that can actually get people to buy the products they’re promoting. The more content you create and the more you analyze content from other marketers and try to understand what makes their content great the sooner you can make money.
I’ve seen some people get their first sale in the first month and others after 8 months. It all depends on how much work you put into it.

Time and effort are key. That’s what a lot of people don’t realize. I remember reading Ralph his success story when I started on Wealthy Affiliate
and it really put things into perspective. He barely made anything in the first 18 months but skyrocketed at the end of his second year.
