What is It Works!?

It Works! is an MLM company founded by Mark B. Pentecost in the year 2001. The company sells health products with the help of MLM ( Multi-Level Marketing.).

It Works is active in a large part of Europe, Canada, The US, and also has a headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

It Works! has done over 200 Million dollars in sales and seems to still be growing at a rapid paste. It Works! has also won multiple awards while being in business.

What is Multi-Level Marketing?

Multi-level marketing is also known as Network marketing is a form of marketing where independent sellers buy products from the company and resell them while recruiting other people to do the same.

It’s a Pyramid structured business model.

A lot of people are often suspicious of MLM-companies because pyramid schemes often disguise themselves as MLM companies.

In this review, I’m going to show you if It Works! is a legit MLM company or a pyramid scheme that is not worth your time.

How to get started with It Works!?

As I’ve said earlier in this review It Works! is a company that uses multi-level marketing to promote and sell their products.

Just like with other MLM companies you’re going to have to follow the same steps to get started.

1. Sign-up and become a distributor
You can sign-up on the official It Works! website. You’ll also have to buy their $99 business kit that’ll set you up with almost everything you need to start as a distributor.

2. Buy products
On the website, you’ll have to buy It Works! products.

3. Resell products
After receiving the products you’re going to have to resell the products and earn commissions.

4. Recruit others
In exchange for bonuses, you’re also going to have to recruit people to become It Works! distributors.

Things you should take into account before starting:

  • You’re obligated to buy the $99 Business kit
  • You’re obligated to get your website at It Works that have a monthly $20 fee
  • You’ll have to pay a renewal fee of $35
  • To be eligible for receiving commission you need to sell 400 units of a product monthly.

Who can benefit from It Works!?

Who would benefit from investing in It Works!:

  • People that are exceptionally good in selling products and managing other recruits.
  • People that have money to invest in the products

Who shouldn’t invest in It Works!:

  • People that don’t like networking and meeting new people
  • People that don’t like selling
  • People that don’t have money to invest upfront
  • People that are trying to earn a full-time or reasonable side-income.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Lead generation through social media
  • Support Tools and Training

Cons

  • Earning Potential low
  • Need to pay +$90 just to join as a distributor
  • Need to buy products and resell
  • Most people don’t find success in MLM

It Works! Products

A lot has changed with It Works! during the last few years. They went from a handful of products to have a huge assortment that their distributors can resell.

Their products can be divided into 7 categories:

  • Beauty & Personal Care
  • Nutrition
  • Keto
  • Weight control
  • Energy & Endurance
  • Vegan
  • Apparel and Accessories

The It Works! product line consists of:

  • Coffee Brews
  • Fab wraps
  • Cleansing gels
  • Essential Oils
  • Creams ( Eye, anti-aging)
  • Energy drinks, shakes, and other supplements
  • Facial toners

Do It Works! Products work?

As someone that might be interested in working as a distributor for It Works! I think it’s important to know if the product works and if you can stand behind it with certainty.

This is why I went and did some research to find out if these products are legit. To this day there aren’t any scientific articles online that validate that these products work.

On the internet, there is no consensus about each product. Some say the products they used worked and others think it’s a flat out scam.

Here are two videos where people review some of the products they have used.

How much can you earn with It Works!?

There are a lot of things that you have to take into account when answering this question.

In an ideal world, you could become a millionaire as a distributor of It Works! products but there are so many things that have to go right for this to happen.

This is why I think it’s smarter to look at what distributors are already earning and use this as a reference.

On the official It Works! website, they have an income disclosure with the average numbers distributors are doing based on their distributor rank.

These ranks are given based on their and their recruiter’s performance, how many products they have bought from It Works!, and how many products they have resold.

Here is a chart from 2018.

They haven’t updated this chart but they update the rest of the website frequently so we can assume that these numbers are still applicable to the present day.

It Works! Income disclosure statement

Something that I do find disturbing about this disclosure is how more than 80% of the members are in the lowest ranks and making a monthly average of $47.

That's less than $2 a day.

My Personal Take

As far as MLM companies go this company is one of the better ones. The reason I say this is because overall a lot of people seem to be happy with the products.

I also like that they have a well thought out training program that you can follow. It’s not a thing where you have to pay so much upfront and you have to figure everything out yourself.

That being said I’m not a fan of MLM companies in general.

Here’s a graph showing you some statistics about MLM.

AARP MLM Study Infographic

Is Multilevel Marketing for you? AARP Foundation launches a consumer education campaign to reveal the risks and rewards of multileval marketing.

Most people either lose their money or not make money at all according to the statistics.

Personally, I don’t think a form of marketing where the chance of me making money is that low is worth my time or my money.

This is why in 2018, I got into affiliate marketing which is a method to make money online without having to pay hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars upfront and the chance of succeeding is very high for those that stick to the training.

Is It Works! A Pyramid Scheme or A Legit MLM business?

At the beginning of this article, I said that Pyramid schemes often disguise themselves as MLM companies. This doesn’t mean they’re unrecognizable.

There is one huge difference between MLM and Pyramid schemes.

Pyramid schemes don’t sell any product. They just let people recruit others in a pyramid structure and have them pay for joining and as a result, the top of the pyramid makes money while the others don’t.

It Works! has products that you can sell no matter what rank of distributor you are so it’s not a pyramid scheme.

It’s a legit MLM company but just because it’s legit doesn’t make it a good way to earn money.

Unlike methods such as Affiliate Marketing, Dropshipping, and selling online courses the compensation model for MLM feels like it’s often a set-up for people to fail unless you are an expert salesman and recruiter.

Is It Works legit?

After doing extensive research I've come to the conclusion that It Works is a Legit MLM but I wouldn't recommend joining.

That’s all for today. If you have any questions or you just want to show some love don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

  1. To be honest, I think it works! actually have good products that can be beneficial to the health. But the model of the earning structure is just not okay. Also, as you mentioned, the earning potential is severely limited, the success rate is simply unacceptable. I was actually about to invest but I think there are better opportunities with possibly, lesser efforts. Thanks for sharing

    • Hey Rain,

Thanks for the comment. I’m hearing more good things about their product since writing this article it’s just too bad that they have such a bad promoter program.

It’s hard to find products you can 100% stand behind these days.

  2. Just as mentioned in the article, it work’s deals on health product’s and from medical professions no company can be given the Right to administer or sell drugs without propare interrogation to know how legit they are and also how healthy their product’s are to human consumption.

For the fact that they have been in operation for over fifteen years a quite a reason to trust in them…. I have for few occasionsb heard about them so thy must be good to do business with.

Thanks for the comment. I don’t know if it’s a total waste of time for everyone but when you look at the numbers the chance of succeeding is really small.
