There are a lot of ways to make money as a student but not all of them are flexible enough so that you can focus on your studying and be able to relax and do fun things next to it. This is why I’d always advise to try and make money online. You decide your own hours, you can do it from anywhere, and you can base your online business on things you already know or find interesting.

Knowing that you’re probably a student I’m going to assume that you don’t have a lot of time on your hand and you aren’t exactly rich not every method on here is ideal.
Why not every method is ideal for students
Dropshipping
It’s not a bad option you’re basically the middleman between the customer and the supplier but it does involve some financial risks because you’re paying upfront for products.
Selling your own products
I wouldn’t advise a student that has limited time and money to get into selling their own products. You first have to spend time and money into making the product which can be a risk if you can’t find people to sell it to. The goal is to make money not lose money.
Advertising
If you have the audience you can easily make a quick buck with advertising using AdSense for example but the problem with it is that the payout isn’t really that big. Unless you have an enormous audience I wouldn’t advise you to get into advertising as a student.
Freelancing
If you got the skill freelancing is an excellent way to make money. The only downsides to it are that you won’t always have certainty that money will come in every month and for beginners, it can be hard to get into.
Online surveys
Terrible way to make money online in my opinion. You won’t make a lot of money and most websites that make it possible for you to do this are kind of sketchy.
There are some methods here that you can use but as a student, I’d definitely go for promoting affiliate products because:

You don’t need to create a product and you don’t have to pay money for promoting. - Flexible
You choose the hours you want to work on promoting affiliate products - Semi-Passive
Rank the website you’re using on the first page of Google and they’ll direct people to your website without doing anything for it. - Money
There are people out there that have become millionaires by promoting affiliate products.
As a student that has limited time and money promoting affiliate products is the best way to make money online in my opinion.

Step 1. Create a Website where people can see the products
Your website will function as the headquarters of your operation. There are a lot of people out there that do it without a website and do it on social media for example. The problem with that is that you’re handicapping yourself. You can’t change colors of fonts, backgrounds use certain music and other stuff to represent your brand. On a website, you can.
You’re going to need two things to create your website:
- Hosting
- Domain name
Hosting
I see hosting as the foundation of your website. A host makes sure you have space online to store all your content. It’s basically like a storage facility for everything you’re going to create.
Domain name
A domain name can be seen as an address. It’s through your domain name that people can find your content, products and all kind of other things that you might offer.
Step 2. Marketing your Website
Search engine marketing
Google processes more than 40.000 search queries per second. That’s a lot of people that specifically looking for certain content. You can get a piece of the pie by getting in the search results that are relevant to the content and products on your website. You do this by using search engine optimization.
Social Media Marketing
Just like search engine marketing, there are a lot of people that use social media. According to statistica.com, there will be around the 2.77 billion social media users before the end of 2019. Social Media is can be very effective when it comes to building a relationship with your potential customers.
Social Media Sponsored content
Just like you, there will be a lot of people on social media that try to make money online by using social media marketing. This makes it harder to get noticed. You can skip this process just like with PPC by using paid advertisement. Social Media Platforms will increase your reach by paying and make it possible to target only the people that are interested in your offers.
Pay-Per-Click marketing
The higher your content is ranked, the more people Google will direct to your website. It can take a long time to get ranked through search engine optimization, but you can skip that process by using pay-per-click marketing. You’ll get placed at the top of the results and pay for every time somebody clicks on your website.
It’s a highly effective way of marketing if you can keep the costs as low as possible.
