Summary:

Rewardable is a mobile app created by Joe Sofio that offers what they call Acorns in exchange for doing tasks. These Acorns can be exchanged for money which they send you through Paypal.

The tasks consist of things you can do from your own home and things you can do when you visit stores. Rewardable does payout their users but at the most, you might make $2 per hour which might not be ideal for people trying to make a fulltime income online.

Rating: 6/10

Recommended: No. Not for a full-time online income.

The Founders Of Rewardable

You can find out a lot about a product by looking at the track record of the founders. In this case, the founders of Rewardable are Joe Sofio, Peter Komassa, and John Boccuzi.

With the help of Linkedin, I have confirmed that at least two of the three are real people. I couldn’t find anything about Joe Sofio other than a Crunchbase account that wasn’t filled in properly.

He also has a TEDx talk about how customer service might be the future of marketing.

In 2012 these three create Rewardable while also being busy with their business endeavors.

How does Rewardable work?

Rewardable is what a lot of people call a “get-paid-to” app. This means in exchange for doing specific tasks you get rewarded in multiple ways. To get to the point of earning money with Rewardable you have to go through a 4-step process.

1. Install & Sign-up for Rewardable
Rewardable can be used on multiple mobile devices and because of that can be downloaded from multiple places. The mobile app is both in the play store for android users and in the Apple Store for iOS users.

Rewardable can also be accessed from a desktop by downloading the web app on the official Rewardable website Rewardable.com. They’ll ask you to sign-up using either your email address or verifying with your Facebook account.

2. Complete tasks
The “Play” area of Rewardable will have all kinds of tasks named by a few words that you can click on and complete. You’ll have to sign-up for every task before you can do it and after you have completed the task you can find it in the “My Tasks” area and see if the task is accepted.

After every task, you’ll get what is called an Acorn. Not every task gets you the same amount of Acorns.

You have simple tasks like telling how you found Rewardable which grants you 10 Acorns ($0,01) and tasks that take up more time like watching trending trailers for example that grant you +500 Acorns.

3. Cash-out
The moment you reach the cash out minimum it’s possible to exchange the acorns for money and get paid through Paypal. The minimum at the moment is 500 acorns which are $0,50.

4. Grow community status
Rewardable wants to encourage people to stay on the platform long-term. They do this by rewarding people that are highly active on Rewardable. The more you are active on Rewardable, the more tasks will appear that are worth more Acorns.

What Kind Of Tasks Will You Do On Rewardable?

As I said before, you can make money on Rewardable in exchange for doing tasks. The Rewardable landing page divides there tasks into two different types:

  • Tasks you can do from home
  • In-store tasks
Ways to earn money online with Rewardable

Tasks You Can Do From Home:

Watch videos
I have watched a few videos through Rewardable. Most of them are video trailers that are trending at the moment. You’ll watch them through Acorn TV and get Acorns in exchange for watching the entire video.

Complete surveys
When you click on a survey you’ll be directed to external websites where you can do the surveys. You still have to qualify to do the survey. I haven’t done any of the long surveys but I have done some of the 3 question surveys that help Rewardable itself gather data.

Participate in sweepstakes
As the name says, you’re able to do sweepstakes and win Acorns that you can exchange for money.

In-store tasks:

These are tasks you can do when you’re in a specific store that is connected to Rewardable. Depending on where you live you can have access to a lot of tasks or none at all.

Write Product Feedback
In exchange for Acorns you’ll have to review products in the stores you visit.

Unfortunately, I don’t live in an area where they offer these tasks so I wasn’t able to find out what exactly they want when it comes to the quality of the reviews and if this affects the number of Acorns you receive.

Visit Retail Stores
According to the website, it’s also possible to the website it’s also possible to earn Acorns by functioning as a mystery shopper. The difference between this and the normal product feedback is that you’ll be reviewing the entire store instead of just one product.

Answer Trivia
Rewardable will ask you questions regarding specific topics in exchange for Acorns.

The Rewardable Referral Program

Exchanging Acorns isn’t the only way you can earn money. Rewardable also has its referral program that pays out money.

When I first heard about Rewardable having a referral program I had a lot of questions such as how do you earn money directing people to a free service but then I read how it worked in the app.

How does the Rewardable referral program work?
The headline in the referral area says that when you share the app you can earn up to $50 per referral. You do this by following a 3-step process.

1. Share the app
There are multiple ways you can share the app with others. You can do this through SMS, email, facebook, and Twitter.

2. Leave your promo code
The moment you participate in the referral program you get your promo code. The moment people use this to create their Rewardable account they get a $0,50 bonus on their first task. This functions as an encouragement to get people to use the promo code.

3. Receive a 10% bonus
The moment they start doing tasks you’ll get a 10% bonus of their earnings for 20 days. This is where 50 dollars come from. If you can get your referrals to play a lot you could make more money than playing by yourself.

Rewardable Desktop vs. Rewardable App

There are a few differences between Rewardable App and the Desktop version. The desktop version gives every type of task a different page which gives you more oversight.

Rewardable Main Page (Desktop version)

Rewardable desktop homepage

Main Page (App version)

Rewardable app homepage

Mobile app versions of website are often made simpler than their desktop counterpart.

This often influences the user experience in different ways.

I found it for example a lot easier to find the area to redeem your acorns on the desktop version.

It took me a while before I felt comfortable using the Rewardable app.

Overall, I prefer the desktop version.

Who can benefit from Rewardable

Who would benefit from Rewardable:

  • People looking for pocket change money

Who wouldn’t benefit from Rewardable:

  • People that want to make a full-time income online
  • People that want to make a decent side income online

Pros and Cons of Rewardable

  • Pros
  • cons
  • Earning potential is low
I have been working since yesterday to get to the minimum payout threshold and I’m still not there. The highest-paid tasks available to me were around 500 Acorns which equals 50 cents and these are limited. I can’t imagine anyone making more $2 an hour max.
  • Annoying ads
Every time I finished a task a casino video add would appear which I had to watch in its entirety before I could click it away and when I clicked it away I got redirected to the page where you can download the casino app in the play store.
  • geographically limited
A lot of the in-store tasks are limited to certain areas which means if your life in an area like mine you won’t be able to take advantage of these tasks. There’s also no real way of knowing beforehand if you live in one of these areas.

Points of Credibility & Red Flags

Mentioned by noteworthy websites

As annoyed as I got because of the ads they force upon you it does have some noteworthy websites vouching for it. It has been mention on websites such as NBC, Business Insider, ABC, and other credible media outlets when it comes to business.

User ratings are decent

A great way to find out if a product can deliver is by finding out what current and previous users think of Rewardable. I have looked at a few websites to find out what they think about Rewardable.

rewardable user ratings

As you can see the average is between the 3 and 4 stars which surprise me when I compare it to my personal experience but the fact that you can make money as little as it is is undeniable.

My Personal Take

Rewardable isn’t a scam. It is possible to exchange the Acorns for money.

I like that you can use Rewardable on all mobile devices since I hate being on my phone all the time and I like watching videos on bigger screens. The app itself is easy to use you just press on a task and you perform the task.

Did I also mention it works?! Yeah, that’s a massive Pro in my book.

Rewardable isn’t perfect though. Some things make me refrain from being a long-term Rewardable user.

In my opinion, you don’t get enough money for the time you spent performing all these tasks. I know a lot of other methods to make money online where you can earn a lot more.

I also have a problem with some of the tasks being limited to people living in specific locations. There are a lot of tasks that I wasn’t able to do because of it.

The thing that annoys me the most are the ads that cover your entire screen (which you can't click away) after every completed task followed by you being re-directed to the download page of the app in the ad.

Rewardable Google Play redirect

This doesn’t mean it’s a bad app on the contrary, in my opinion, this is one of the better “get-paid-to” websites.

I just wouldn’t recommend it to people trying to make a full-time income online.

Is Rewardable A Scam?

After doing extensive research I've come to the conclusion that Rewardable isn't a Scam but I can't recommend it to my readers.

I say this because even though it’s legit and you can make money:

  • your earning potential is limited to your location
Some high earning tasks are location specific.
  • Earning potential, in general, is low
you’ll get a few cents per task on average

I do think if you’re are looking for a quick buck to get a snack or something Rewardable can be handy.
